We had a wonderful race weekend at the 65th Annual SCCA Nationals at the Glen during the past four days. We arrived at The Glen on the 5th of July for a track day and to get the car setup for the race weekend. One practice rubber, we were lapping at 2:01, we knew there was potential to go faster. On the 6th of July in timed practice on new tires we lapped at 2:00 and qualified the next day with the same lap time putting us firmly in the P2 starting position. We were in a mixed class of 17 cars with Formula Atlantic's, Formula Continental, Formula Enterprise and Formula Mazda. We finished P2 in our class with our best lap time of 1:59 - a terrific result for our first SCCA National experience.
Thanks to all of our race community friends that have allowed us to use their pictures on our website including Dick Coburn, Doug Harrison, Howard Cohen, Jeff Fenwick, Lyn Thompson, and Melissa Farrell.
We had a great weekend at Mosport (now called Canadian Tire Motorsport Park). We went into the weekend leading the points in the Formula Libre class in the CASC-OR regional race hosted by BARC. We were up against some serious competition with much more powerful race cars. We qualified P3 and finished P4 in race 1, P4 in race 2 and P4 in race 3. We had tire challenges during the entire race weekend, electing to use a soft compound tire fro better grip - it was a bad choice as we ended up wearing out our tires much faster than we had expected. Great work by the Vallis Motorsports Team in preparing the car - special thanks to our promotional partner Good Cars Only who supplied us with an terrific 2006 Ford Lariat F-350 Extended Cab 4X4 Diesel - contact Brian at Good Cars Only for a test drive.
